[die Tourbeschreibung ist momentan nur auf Englisch verfügbar]
Day 1:
Iquitos. The guide will transfer you to the harbour from the airport by comfortable bus whilst you see the city of Iquitos. Our speedboats will be waiting for you, ready to travel 3 hours upriver along the Amazon. The staff will be ready to welcome you with a typical cold drink after arriving at the lodge. After settling in at your bungalow and having lunch, you start your adventure. (You will previously have been provided with a checklist for the animals). After lunch you will be escorted along a path which is about half an hour from the lodge where you look for howler monkeys, whose roar can be heard miles away. After the hike we take you to see the sunset at Sapote Lake. After dinner you continue with the adventure, looking for black and white caimans (jungle alligators) whilst you gaze at the stars of the southern hemisphere. Lunch and Dinner.
Day 2:
Jungle. Using canoes we go to Juanachi Lake, difficult to access because of its location and many aquatic plants at the entrance but here you can fully appreciate the abundance of fauna and flora. Here you walk or paddle - depending on the water level - to spot different types of birds such as parrots, macaws, toucans, egrets, hawks, ducks etc and also sloth, squirrels and several monkeys. Lunch is served outdoors so that you can make the most of your time at this beautiful, remote place. Depending on the river level, you can look for more fauna on foot. After dinner, we make a nocturnal hike to the strangle tree - the home of many species of tarantulas. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 3:
Jungle. After breakfast you hike behind the lodge where you can observe the great variety of flora that the region has. During this hike you have the opportunity to taste the water of the urticaria tormentosa (it is said that this can cure cancer and AIDS) and see giant ceiba trees. You will have the opportunity to spot pygmy marmosets, the smallest monkey in the world and if you are lucky, howler monkeys. Also present in this area are tamarins and black monkeys, different species of birds and colourful butterflies. You might even spot some felines. This hike can last up to seven hours, and depending on your physical ability you can reach the Tahuayo River. In the afternoon you can participate in piranha fishing. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Days 4-5:
Yarina Lake. This day is a change from the previous days as you will be camping in the forest. We take you to Yarina Lake where we establish a camp to and make various excursions. Here the breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in the outdoors and you can enjoy the unspoilt Amazonian rainforest where we can guarantee the observation of many species of animals. After breakfast the following day you return to the lodge to have lunch. In the afternoon you continue with the adventure, visiting the Pungal. This is an area that has several strangle figs, the strangle fig being is the favorite place of the Hoatzin Birds. These birds actually resemble prehistoric birds because they have 3 hooks in their wing middle articulation. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 6:
Back to Iquitos. Very early in the morning before breakfast, you participate in another bird watching trip. This is the best hour to look for them because they begin their day feeding themselves in the trees. You may spot parrots, macaws, toucans, egrets, hawks and ducks. The check list will help you to identify the different species that you see.
Later, you are taken by boat to the Amazon River. Here you experience one of the most magical moment of your trip: seeing pink dolphins playing around your boat. On the way back to the lodge, you will see the worlds biggest aquatic plant: the famous Victoria Regia. During lunch with your guide you can check all the animals that you have seen. Then your jungle experience comes to an end with the 3 hours boat trip back to Iquitos and we take you to the airport. Breakfast and Lunch
