[die Tourbeschreibung ist momentan nur auf Englisch verfügbar]
Day 1:
Kathmandu to Chitwan National Park. We depart the hotel in Kathmandu in the morning to transfer to Kathmandu Airport for the flight to Bharatpur. On arrival at Bharatpur, you will be met and transferred by jeep to our lodge in Sauraha Village, approximately 14kms from the airport.
Chitwan National Park is situated in south western Nepal and covers an area of 932 square kilometres. It is the most well known of the wildlife National Parks of Nepal. You can see wild elephant, white footed gaur (the worlds largest wild cattle), leopards, wild boar, sloth bear, several species of deer including the spotted, barking, samber and hog deer. Chitwan National Park is home to the one-horned rhinoceros, and also harbours one of the largest populations of Bengal tigers. The swampy areas and numerous ox-bow lakes are perfect for marsh crocodiles. And for bird-lovers, the park hosts 450 species of birds.
We will arrive in Chitwan around lunchtime. We check into our accommodation, take lunch and then begin the afternoon activities.
Our first afternoon includes an Elephant safari and jungle walk to take us through to dinner time. The Elephant ride will cover an area of about 8 to 10 sq kms in either Bagmara or Gaida Forest, and takes between 2 and 2.5 hours.
Day 2:
Chitwan National Park. Our second day in the park begins very early with some bird watching and a jungle walk. The early morning is often the best time to see the local wildlife. The jungle walk will cover between 5 and 10 kms over a 3 hour period, depending on the group.
The remainder of the day is a combination of village tours, elephant safaris and canoeing the water-ways. There will be a canoe trip during the day, taking you about 4 kms along the Rapti and maybe Budi Rapti rivers. Also included is a village tour where you visit the village called Bachhuli VDC Village No 6, to give you an insight into local life. The Tharu people have unique cultural traditions, and in the evening there will be a cultural programme.
Day 3:
Chitwan National Park to Kathmandu. Once again we have a very early start to see some more wildlife before breakfast.
After breakfast, pack your belongings and prepare for the return journey by air Kathmandu.
Trip ends upon arrival in Kathmandu. The transfer back from Kathmandu Airport to Thamel is included, but accommodation in Kathmandu is not included.
