Iguazu Wasserfälle
[die Tourbeschreibung ist momentan nur auf Englisch verfügbar]
Day 1:
You are welcomed either at Puerto Iguazu or Foz do Iguazu Airport or Bus Terminal, and transfered to your hotel. Several hotels are at your disposition on the Argentinean or the Brazilian side. In the afternoon we visit the Brazilian side of the falls, from where you can enjoy a magnificient view of tha falls (this tour can also be scheduled for the morning of day 3, depending on arrival time to Iguazu).
Iguazu Falls straddles the border of Brazil and Argentina, and consists of about 275 falls in a horseshoe shape along 2.7 kilometres of the Iguazu River. With some falls up to 82 metres in height, the name Iguazu comes from the Guarani words y (water) and guasu (big) and it is rivalled only by Victoria Falls in Southern Africa. Iguazu however, affords better views and walkways, and at one point, a person can stand and be surrounded by 260 degrees of waterfalls.
The falls lie within the Iguazú National Park (Argentina), and the Iguaçu National Park (Brazil), both of which were made UNESCO World Heritage sites in the 1980s and are part of a singular, practically virgin jungle eco-system. Both offer spectacular vistas of the falls, although the view of the famed Garganta del Diablo, or Devils Throat Cliff from the Brazilian side is said to be more panoramic.
In peak flow, the water flowing over Iguazu has a surface area of about 400,000 square metres and the annual peak flow is 6.5 million litres per second. The falls are four times the width and also taller than Niagara Falls, and the thunder of the water can be heard from miles away.
Days 2:
In the morning, we visit the Argentinean side of the falls and hike the upper and lower trails, San Martin Island and the impressive Devil's Throat. Optionally, we offer the "Gran Aventura" Safari, a 15 mn drive through the jungle followed by a zodiac excursion along the Iguazu River to the base of the falls.
Day 3:
Transfer to the airport or bus terminal for your flight/bus out.
