Day 1 - Arrive Bucharest
Begin your adventure in Romania’s cultural capital, Bucharest. Tonight we will meet our group in the evening and board our overnight train to the region of Bucovina at around 20.30.

Accommodation:
1 night on an overnight sleeper train. No single room upgrade available.

Day 2 - Moldovi?a
We take a short transfer to our guesthouse, where breakfast will be waiting. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through a typical village of the Moldovi?a region and meet the traditional Hutsules community. They will show you the beautiful Romanian art of egg painting. We will also explore one of the major Bucovina monasteries - the Moldovi?a painted monastery. Admire the spectacular exterior, with its beautiful yellow and orange painted frescoes.

Day 3 - Sucevi?a
Enjoy hiking through woodland and fields as we trek to Sucevi?a monastery. It’s a breathtaking site, nestled within this rural region, and the size will amaze you. Spend some time uncovering the intricate details of each fresco, and enjoy the tranquility in this place of nature. Tonight we will stay the night in Sucevi?a.

Day 4 - M?n?stirea Humorului
Hike for approximately 12km, through forests and valleys, until we arrive in the village of M?n?stirea Humorului. Take a step back in time as you soak up this peasant world, watching horse-carts go by.

Day 5 - Transfer to Maramure?
This morning we may be able to visit the fascinating Vorones monastery, depending on the weather. Next we will take a 4 hour transfer, to the Maramure? region. Where Bucovina is famous for the painted monasteries, Maramure? has a very different style. We will visit the oldest wooden church here, and then hike to our guesthouse is a nearby village. Discover the long-shaped villages speckled with wooden churches and marvel at the thick forest landscapes.

Day 6 to 7 - Maramure?
Enjoy two days exploring this stunning region. Hiking from one village to another you can discover mountain pastures, lakes, forests and fields. Uncover impressive wooden church boasting beautiful interior frescoes and get off the beaten track in some of the most remote areas of Maramure?. If weather permits, we may be able to venture to the Bârsana monastery, boasting some of the best wooden Maramure? architecture.

Day 8 - S?pân?a, Happy Cemetery & Bucharest
Today we transfer to S?pân?a where we will explore the fascinating ‘Merry Cemetery’. Wander amongst the colourful tombstones, each reflecting original, unusual and poetic stories. Next we will head to the charming city of Sighetu Marmatiei where you can visit the The Memorial Museum for Communism Victims. Later that day we will take an overnight train back to Bucharest.

Day 9 - Depart Bucharest
Today your hiking adventure comes to an end. If you have a late flight or have lengthened your stay by adding post tour accommodation you will have more time to explore the sights.
